Jim's a Great Cook!

Dear Friends;

You asked for them: the beloved recipes we use for homeless outreaches and senior luncheons. We consider meal service a practical show of love, so we scour the web for the best recipes, and we always use the freshest ingredients possible. Sometimes, that means a little extra work on our part to provide you with those "I LOVE YOU" flavors and that hearty, filling effect from a meal well-served...but it is a great honor and privilege to do so! And, when we can, we even like to impress with plating (special "THANKS" go out to our plating artists)!

Of course, we couldn't do this without our friends in ministry who gather in the kitchen in order to answer the call to love others in special and relevant way. We love you all and are so grateful to be together in this family of action: the Bride of Christ!

Below are the original recipes from what we prepare for you is food services. We don't tweak much, so these are faithful representations of the foods that you have grown to love. We are grateful for your encouragement in food ministry...because we love you, too!

In Jesus' Great Peace, Love and Joy,

                                                                                                                                Jim and Carole

Tennessee Slaw

This was a huge crowd-pleaser at the Justa Center and Lakeview! Follow the recipe and let it rest before using it.

Oven-Braised Pulled Pork

If you don't have a smoker, this recipe works fine in the oven. It is a huge fan favorite. Enjoy!

Atlantic Beach Pie

I found this recipe in a magazine. The chef who introduced this family classic into his restaurant soon regretted it...the orders came flowing in so quickly that he renamed it "That Stupid Pie." We can't get enough of it, either...and our friends agree!

Elote (Street) Corn

"Better than My Mom's Cheesy Potatoes!"

Being Northerners who love many foods Southern, we just had to grab this copycat recipe from Torchy's for our Phoenix crowd. We toned down the cilantro...and it turns out, you had to have the recipe, too! Bib up!

The Best Sloppy Joes I've Ever Had

"Better than My Mom's Cheesy Potatoes!"

"Better than My Mom's Cheesy Potatoes!"

Who knew Sloppy Joes could be so popular?! We sure didn't! Serve this with Tennessee Slaw and some crisp pickle chips. We couldn't stop eating it...a word of caution!

"Better than My Mom's Cheesy Potatoes!"

"Better than My Mom's Cheesy Potatoes!"

"Better than My Mom's Cheesy Potatoes!"

That's what a friend at the Justa Center said when he tasted these spuds...and we love them, too!

Mexican Rice

That Ice Cream Cake!

That Ice Cream Cake!

This recipe is well-loved. We didn't think it up, but we are SO GLAD we found it! Thanks, Emily Walker! We use less cilantro when serving it, so judge accordingly.

Buen provecho!

Does cilantro taste soapy to you?

 1) tear it into pieces just before use

2) tear instead of finely chopping

3) use less, or omit completely

Chocolate & Ice Cream Cake...

This was designed by a CAKE ARTIST. I'm not proud; I took a shortcut and used an unctuous boxed chocolate cake mix for the eight cakes we delivered for Amazing Grays one week. Even then, it took effort, ample freezer space, a little technique and a few days to complete the mission. But these cakes were worth it; every slice was gobbled up before Mexican Train had ended. YUM! Don't trouble yourself with making this recipe (unless you really want to). Just show up on the right Wednesday, and we will serve you a slice!

Thanks, Elizabeth Marek, for this recipe! You truly are an artist!
